Jay Ng

Jay NgJay is an experienced IT professional in data center automation and server infrastructure support. He has worked in a global bank in Hong Kong with over 22 years of IT experience. He has begun his IT career as a programmer in an IT software house before he joined the bank as a systems analyst to provide system support on VAX/VMS and in-house automation tool support. Jay evaluated, designed and implemented a third-party data center automation tool to automate tons of operational and application time and event management processes for mainframe, AS/400, VAX and mid-range UNIX/PC servers. Jay then moved on and started to lead the first server technical support team to provide systems, middleware and database support for various open systems including PC servers, AIX, Solaris and Linux servers. He has played a key part and overseen the growth of the IT operations in the bank, such as the growth of the server farm from less than 10 servers to thousands of severs, the birth of the first internet banking system, the introduction of unit rate for support services, data center regionalization, central hosting of the group system development environments.
Jay was the regional head of the enterprise server services overseeing hundreds of critical online banking support services and budget planning for the whole server estate in APAC before he left the bank. With progressively responsible experience in the bank, he offers a distinguished career earmarked by accomplishments in leading and directing various information technologies across broad disciplines, including system automation tooling, cost pool and budget management, open platform hardware and software production support, disaster recovery, IT security, quality improvement, project management, vendor management, crisis management, etc.
Given his rich experience as a senior executive in the bank, Jay has not only had experiences in leading large teams but also lots of relationship management experience to work with various local and global IT folks, business users, vendors, auditors and compliance. The experience makes him open, flexible with good networking skills to promote a culture of innovation, flexibility, integrity and unity and also enables him to facilitate harmony and partnership between internal and external teams.
